A lot of diversity and inclusion efforts focus on mentoring women. If she can be taught to hack the system, the thinking goes, she can someday succeed just like a man!
But is she really deficient in training and encouragement? What if we accept as a baseline that women are qualified and excellent? What if it's not women, but the rules and systems that keep the status quo in favor of an outdated (cis, white, able-bodied, male) “ideal worker” that need to change?
