seeing through illusions mug
How are you resisting authoritarian efforts to demoralize and overwhelm us into giving up on making change?
Times like this are why I have a whole part of my art practice dedicated to play. It's not optional, or only for after I get the "work work" done. I protect time to renew the creativity and energy I'll need to keep pushing for progress.
This winter that has looked like trying some floating glazes. When molten in the kiln, the glass separates into discrete densities, or phases, which look layered as light bends through them.
Playing with this optical effect has reminded me that all is not as it may appear, and that I can still use my two hands to bring my ideas to life in a world that needs me to not give up.
